Heating Sector Transformation Led by the Office of Energy Resources (OER) and the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers (DPUC), efforts related to “Heating Sector Transformation” will advance Rhode Island's development of clean, affordable, and reliable heating technologies. Heating Sector Transformation Initiative In July 2019, an Executive Order launched a Heating Sector Transformation Initiative in Rhode Island. Led by the Office of Energy Resources (OER) and the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers (DPUC), this effort is intended to advance Rhode Island's development of a cleaner, more affordable and reliable heating future, and engage public and private sector partners in the identification of economic, energy, and environmental opportunities and challenges posed by our state’s heating sector. FINAL HST REPORT FINAL REPORT Technical Support Document Letter to Governor Raimondo from OER & DPUC Public Workshop #1, December 13, 2019 During this first workshop, representatives from Brattle provided an introduction to the heating sector of today and discussed what opportunities and challenges exist as society shifts toward a decarbonized heating future. In addition, the project team walked through how potential future heating sector “pathways” will be developed inclusive of stakeholder input, scenario modeling, and emerging technological opportunities, with a goal of producing actionable strategies for Ocean State homes, businesses, and policymakers.
