Electric Vehicles Charging Stations

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER), through its Lead by Example (LBE) Initiative, has been working with state agencies for a number of years, developing and implementing clean energy projects. The Electric Vehicle Charging Station Program’s goal is to make it easier for all RI state agencies to transition towards electric vehicles, and we understand that access to charging infrastructure is crucial for this transition. Therefore, we will do everything in our power to secure funding and ensure that charging stations are available for everyone who needs them.

The Lead by Example Initiative does not guarantee funding for the installation of charging stations and any funding made by OER is at its full discretion. However, we are committed to working towards identifying any available funding sources, including grants, to support the installation of these stations.

Cost Recovery Policy

This initiative establishes a fair cost-recovery model to support the sustainable operation and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure.

Read the proposed cost recovery policy linked below.

Pursuant to the statutory requirements, OER is opening a 30-day public comment period on the proposed fee structure and idle usage policy. All stakeholders and members of the public are invited to provide their feedback during this period.
