2022 Clean Energy Jobs Report As detailed in the 2022 Rhode Island Clean Energy Industry Report, the state’s clean energy sector employed almost 500 jobs between the last quarters of 2020 and 2021. As the 2022 report explains, the largest increase of employment from the end of 2020 to the end of 2021 was within the energy efficiency and heating/cooling sectors. This comes after a year in which those two sectors were hit the hardest during the pandemic. Clean energy employment in Rhode Island totaled 14,256 jobs, of which 7,910 are in energy efficiency, 591 in wind, and 1,445 in solar. The most current report includes a section on diversity in the clean energy labor market that shows the demographics of gender and race in the current workforce.
