Agricultural Energy Audits: RI Agricultural Clean Energy Technical Assistance Program (ACE TAP)

In light of the current pause on USDA's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant, the Office of Energy Resources (OER) is focusing its Agricultural Clean Energy Technical Assistance Program (ACE TAP) to better support energy management and auditing of Rhode Island farmers’ current energy needs.

Through ACE TAP, OER's agricultural energy consultants, GDS Associates, are offering Rhode Island farmers free, comprehensive agricultural energy audits. These audits can be conducted either in person with a GDS auditor or virtually via video conference.

Additionally, GDS agricultural energy experts provide customized energy evaluations tailored to each farming operation, identifying opportunities to reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and improve efficiency both now and in the future.  GDS designs and conducts energy use and savings studies that evaluate baseline energy consumption and quantify potential savings associated with emerging technologies and practices, including irrigation systems, on-farm electrification, precision agriculture tools, controlled-environment agriculture, processing equipment, and renewable energy integrations.
